Study the diagram and answer the questions the follow it :
(i) Which defect of vision is represented in the case ? Give reason for your answer.
(ii) What could be two causes of this defect ?
(iii) With the help of a diagram show how this defect can be corrected by the use of a suitable lens.

(i) This diagram represents hypermetropia because the image is focussed behind the retina.
(ii) This defect arises when (i) The eyeball becomes too small or (ii) The focal length of the eye lens become too large.
(iii) Hypermetropia is corrected by using a convex lens of suitable focal length. This lens converges the rays so that the image is formed on the retina as shown.
