A hot plate of an electric oven connected to a 220 V line has two resistance coils A and B, each of `24Omega` resistance, which may be used separately, in series or in parallel. What are the currents in the three cases?

Case [i] `R=24+24=48Omega`
`I=V/R=220/48=4.6A`
Case [ii] `1/R=1/24+1/24=2/24=1/12`
`R=12Omega`
Therefore `I=220/12=18.3A`.
Case [iii] `I=V/R=220/24=9.2A`.
