(a) Biomass: The material obtained from plants and anima used as fuels is called biomass. This biomass is anaerobically decomposed by microorganisms to produce `CH_(4), H_(2) S, CO_(2), and H_(2)`.
(b) Biogas is considered an ideal fuel because:
(i) BIogas burns without any smoke and so does not cause air pollution.
(ii) Biogas produces a large amount of heat per unit mass and thus has a high calorific value.
(ii) Biogas does not leave any residue on burning and is thus a clean fuel.
(iv) Biogas does not cause any storage problem. t can be continuously supplied by plpes directly from the gas plant.
(v) The production of biogas doen not involve any running cost and is cheaper than most common fuels.
(C) (A) Slurry, (B) Muanure, (C) Biogas.
