In the atoms of inert gases, all the electronic shells including the outermost shell is completely filled.
They have stable electronic configuration with complete duplet (in case of He) or complete octet (in case of Ne, Ar, etc).
Due to which these elements do not lose, gain or share electrons and do not take p:irt in the chemical reactions.
Therefore, inert gases exit in the form of free atoms
