A mature spermatozoa on or a sperm cell is a microscopic, tadpole-shaped structure of about 2-5 `mu` m in diameter and 60 `mu` m long. A plasma membrane encloses the whole body of a sperm. It consists of head with an acrosome containing hydrolytic enzymes, a short neck with centrioles, a middle piece consisting of mitochondria and a motile tail.
