What term is used for the milk produced immediately after parturition? Why is it important?

The first milk which comes out from the mother.s mammary glands, just after childbirth (i.e. parturition) is called colostrum. Breastfeeding during initial period of infant growth is recommended, because the milk produced during the initial few days of lactation contains several antibodies, essential to develop resistance for the newborn babies.
