What changes occur in the endometrium due to inert IUD contraception?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Inert IUDs histologically and biochemically change the endometrium, which have gametotoxic and spermicidal effects. These increase phagocytosis of spermicidal effects. These increase phagocytosis of sperms within the uterus. Hormone releasing IUDs make uterus unsuitable for inplantation and make the cervix hostile to sperms.
