Ozone layer lies in the stratosphere between `10-50` kms above the earth surface. It absorbs `99%` of Sun.s hazardous UV radiation and protects plant and animal life from its harmful effects such as skin cancer, cataract and weakens immune system. Thus, it is called as ozone shield. CFC is largely responsible of ozone depletion.
