Cro-Magnon Man The early fossil of a modern man is called Cro-Magnon man which emerged 34000 years ago. He is the extinct, most recent direct ancestor of present day living man. He was 1.8 metres tall with sturdy body and brain capacity as large as in current living man. He had high forehead, prominent chin and inconspicuous brow ridge. He developed superior culture, made sophisticated excellent tools. He lived in families in caves. A number of cave paintings done by Cro-Magnon man have been discovered.
