Write short note on types of xerophytes.

Explanation

Different types of xerophytic plants are
(i) Drought resistant plants are such that they can survive in extreme conditions, drought enduring plants can tolerate drought thought they may not have adaptation
(ii) Drought enduring plants, these do not have distinct adaptation
(iii) Drought escaping, plants, there are short-lived plants, complete then life cycle before the arrival of dry conditions, e.g. Artemisia, Astragalus.
Based on their capacity to store waterxerophytes are classified as succulents and non-succulents . Succulents such as Opuntia, have their organs swollen due to the accumulation of water, whereas non-succulents are considered as true exerphytes .
