Assume that each born child is equally likely to be a boy or a girl. If a family has two children, what is the conditional probability that both are girls given that (i) the youngest is a girl, (ii) at least one is a girl?

Take two identical trays and fill them with soil. Plant mustard or green gram or paddy in one of the trays and water both the trays regularly for a few days, till the first tray is covered by plant growth. Now, tilt both the trays and fix them in that position. Make sure that both the trays are tilted at the same angle. Pour equal amount of water gently on both trays such that the water flows out of the trays. Study the amount of soil that is carried out of the trays. Is the amount the same in both the trays?

  • In a workshop, there are five machines and the probability of any one of them to be out of service on a day is (1)/(4) . If the probability that at most two machines will be out of service on the same day is ((3)/(4))^(3)k then k is equal to :

    A
    `(17)/(2)`
    B
    4
    C
    `(17)/(4)`

Pour three or four the amount that you poured earlier. Study the amount of soil that is carried out of the trays now. Is the amount the same in both the trays ?
