A motorboat starting from rest on a lake accelerates in a straight line at a constant rate of `3.0 ms^(-2)` for `8.0 s.` How far does the boat travel during this time?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Here,` u = 0, t =8.0 s ,a = 3.0 ms ^(-2)`
The distance travelled by the boat,
`s = ut + 1/2 at ^(2)`
` = 0 xx 8 + (1)/(2) xx 3.0 ms ^(-2) (8s) ^(2) = 0 + 96 m = 96 m`
The boat travels a distance of 96 m.
