A 8000 kg engine pulls a train of 5 wagons. Each of 2000 kg .along a horizontal track .If the engine exerts a force a 40000 N.and the track offers a friction force of 5000N.Then calculate:
(a)the net accelerating force:
(b)the acceleration of the train and
(c)The force of wagon 1 on wagon 2.

Total mass of engine and 5 wagons.
`(8000_5xx2000)` kg=18,000 kg
(a)The net accelerating force (b)F=ma
`therefore` the acceleration of the train `~~=1.944 ms^(-2)`
(c) The force of wagon 1 on wagon 2 is actually on wagons 2,3,4 and 5.
So. Mass of wagon 2=`(2000xx4)` kg Now,F=ma (`because a=1.944 ms^(-2))` (a)35,000 N (b)1.944 m `s^(-2)`
(c )15555.2 N
