The speed-time graph of a car is given the car weights 1000 kg.
(a)What is the distance travelled by the cat in first 2 seconds?
(b)What is the breaking applied at the end of 5 second to brong the car to stop within one second?

Text Solution

(a)Here ,t=2s,v=15 m`s^(-1)`
Distance =speed `xx` time
`=15 ms^(-1)xx2s=30m`
(b)The car stops.
`therefore v=0,u-15 ms^(-1),t=1s`
Acceleration `a=(v-u)/(t)`
`=(0-15)/(1)=-15 ms^(-2)`
The magnitude of the acceleration is `15 ms^(-2)`
The force applied to bring the car to stop.
`F=ma=1000 kg xx15 ms^(-2)=15,000N`
(a)Distance covered by the car is 30 m.
(b)The force applied is 15,000N
