Two persons manage in push a motor car of mass 1200 kg at a uniform velocity along a level road.The same motorcar can be pushed by three persons to produce an acceleration of 0,2m`s^(-2)`.With what force does each person push the motorcar?(Assume that all persons push the motorcar with the same muscular effort.)

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Here , =1200 kg ,a=0.2 `ms^(-2)`
Let the force applied by each person by F.
Two persons manage to push the car.
It means 2 F force is just balanced by the friction force due to the road.
Three persons apply 3F force and the motorcar accelerated i.e.,3F-2F excess force accelerates the car.
F=ma=`1200xx0.2=240N`
Each person pushes the motorcar with a force of 240N

A man of mass 80kg pushes box of mass 20kg horizontaly. The man moves the box with a constant acceleration of 2 m//s^(2) but his foot does not slip on the ground. There is no friction between the box and the ground. There is no friction between the box and the ground. whereas there is sufficient friction between the man's foot and the ground to prevent him from slipping. Assertion:- The force applied by the man on the box is equal and opposite to the force applied by the force applid by the box on the man. Reason:- Friction force applied by the ground on the man is 200N.
