Gravitational force on the surface of the moon is only `1/6` times as strong as gravitational force on the earth. What is the weight in newton of a 10 kg object on the moon and on the earth ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
The weight of the object on the moon is 16.33N and that on the earth is 98N.

The mass (m) of the object is 10 kg.
The weight of the object on the earth `=mg =10 xx 9.8=98N`
`=1/6 xx ` The weight of the object on the moon
`=1/6 xx 98 approx 16.33N`
