As per Pressure `P=("thrust F")/("area A")` it is clear area that as weight of the heavy vehicles is more they can produce lot of pressure on the land. Now, if tyres are kept broad, then as surface area increases, less pressure is produced on the land. As a result, the land is pressed less and demage to the road is saved.
