Mona weighs 423N on the earth and 1000N ...

Mona weighs 423N on the earth and 1000N on the planet Jupiter. What is the gravitational acceleration on the Jupiter? (The value of g on the earth is `10ms^(-2))`.

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
`23.64ms^(-2)`

On earth.s surface,
`W_e=mg_(c) rArr 423 =m xx 10`
`m=(423)/(10) …..(1)`
On Jupiter.s surface,
`W_(J)=mg_(J)) rArr 1000=m xx g_(J)`
`m=(1000)/g_J ……(2)`
Now the mass of an object remains constant everywhere in the universe. So from equation (1) and (2) `(423)/(10)=(1000)/(g_J)`
`g_J=23.64ms^(-2)`
