A body is thrown up with a kinetic energy of 10 J. If it attains maximum height of 5 m, then find its mass. `(g=10ms^(-2))`

A

`2kg`

B

`20kg`

C

`0.02kg`

D

`0.2kg`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

When the body attains the maximum height, its kinetic energy gets converted into gravitational potential energy.
So, `E_(k)=E_(p)`
`therefore mgh=10J`
`therefore m=(10J)/(gh)=(10J)/((10ms^(-2))(5m))=0.2kg`
