Find the momentum of a body of mass 100 ...

Find the momentum of a body of mass 100 g having kinetic energy 500 J.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
The momentum of the body is `1kgms^(-1)`

Here, `m=100g=0.1kg, E_(k)=500J,` momentum `p=?`
`E_(k)=(1)/(2)m u^(2)`
`therefore 500=(1)/(2)xx0.1xxu^(2)`
`therefore u^(2)=(500xx2)/(0.1) therefore u^(2)=100 therefore u=10ms^(-1)`
Now, momentum `p=m u=0.1xx10`
`=1kgms^(-1)`
