A sound wave travels at a speed of 339 `ms^(-1)` . If its wavelength is 1.5 cm, what is the frequency of the wave? Will it be audible?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Here, speed of sound wave v - 339 m`s^(-1)`
: wavelength `lambda` =1.5 cm =0.015 m, frequency v=?
frequency`v=(v)/(lambda)=(339)/(0.015)=22600 Hz`
As the frequency is more than 20,000 Hz, It is not audible
Frequency is 22,600 Hz. The sound is not audible.
