A person is standing at the edge of a slow moving river which is 1 km wide. He wishes to return to the camp ground on the opposite side of the river for which he may swim to any point on the opposite bank and then walk for the rest of the distance. The campground is 1 km away from the point on the opposite bank directly across from where he starts to swim. If he swims at the rate of 2 km/hr and walks at the rate of 3 km/hr, the minimum time taken by him is approximately 0.6 hr             (b)  0.7 hr           (c)  0.8 hr       (d)  0.9 hr

A river flows with a speed more than the maximum speed with which a person can swim in still water. He intends to cross the river by the shortest possible path (i.e., he wants to reach the point on the opposite bank which directly opposite to the starting point). Which of the following is correct ?

The speed of a man in a ponds is double that of the water ina river. The man starts swimming from a polints P on the bank. What is the angle of swimming of the man so as to directly to the opposite bank?

From a point on a bridge across a river the angles of depression of the banks on opposite side of the river are 30^o and 45^o respectively. If bridge is at the height of 30m from the banks, find the width of the river.

A person, standing on the bank of a river, observes that the angle subtended by a tree on the opposite bank is 60^0dot When he retreates 20m from the bank, he finds the angle to be 30^0dot Find the height of the tree and the breadth of the river.

A person, standing on the bank of a river, observes that the angle subtended by a tree on the opposite bank is 60^0dot When he retreates 20m from the bank, he finds the angle to be 30^0dot Find the height of the tree and the breadth of the river.

A swimmer wants to cross a 200 m wide river which is flowing at a speed of 2 m/s. the velocity of the swimmer with respect to the river is 1 m/s. how far from the point directly opposite to the starting point does the swimmer reach the opposite bank ?

Velocity of the boat with respect to river is 10m/s. From point A it is steered in the direction shown. Where will it reach on the opposite bank ?

A statue 8 meters high standing on the top of a tower 64 meters high, on the bank of a river, subtends at a point A on the opposite bank, directly facing the tower, the same angle as subtends at the same point A by man of height 2 meters standing at the base of the tower. Prove that the breadth of the river is 16sqrt(6) meters.
