The standard deviation of some temperature data in degree celsius `(""^(@)C)` is 5. If the data were converted into degree Fahrenhelt `(""^(@)F)` then what is the variance ?

A

81

B

57

C

36

D

25

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
A

Given, `sigma_(C )=5`
Relation between `.^(@)C " and" .^(@)F` is given by
`F=(9C)/(5)+32`
`therefore sigma_(F)=(9)/(5)S_(C )=(9)/(5)xx5=9`
Here, `sigma_(F^(2))=(9)^(2)=81`
