Find acute and obtuse angle between comp...

Find acute and obtuse angle between companent lines whose combined equation is `2x^(2)+5xy+3y^(2)+6x+7y+4=0`.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

For the given equation of pair of straight lines , we have
`a=2,b=3,h=5//2`
Thus , acute angle between lines is given by
`theta="tan"^(-1)(2sqrt(h^(2)-ab))/(|a+b|)=(2sqrt(25/(4)-6))/(2+3)="tan"^(-1)(1)/(5)`
Obtuse angle between lines `=(pi-"tan"^(-1)(1)/(5))`
