The number of intergral value of y for w...

The number of intergral value of `y` for which the chord of the circle `x^2+y^2=125` passing through the point `P(8,y)` gets bisected at the point `P(8,y)` and has integral slope is (a) 8 (b) 6 (c) 4 (d) 2

A

8

B

6

C

4

D

2

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
2

The slope of the chord is `m= -8//y`. Therefore,
`y= +-1,+-2,+-4,+-8`
But (8,y) must also lie inside the circle `x^(2)+y^(2)=125`
So, y can be equal to `+-1,+-2,+-4,` i.e., 6 value
