A gentleman wants to invite 6 friends. In how many ways can he send invitation cards to them, if he three servants to deliver the cards ?

Since a card can be sent by any one of the three servants, so the number of ways of sending the invitation card to the first friend is 3.
Similarly, invitation cards can be sent to each of the six friends in three ways.
Hence total number of ways `=3xx3xx3xx3xx3xx3x=3^(6)`
