The number of integral values of m for w...

The number of integral values of `m` for which the x-coordinate of the point of intersection of the lines `3x+4y=9` and `y=m x+1` is also an integer is (a)2 (b) 0 (c) 4 (d) 1

A

`2`

B

`0`

C

`4`

D

`1`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

On solving equtions `3x+4y=9` and `y=mx+1`, we get
`x=(5)/(3+4m)`
Now, for `x` to be an integer,
`3+4m=+-5` or `+-1`
The intergral values of `m` satisfying these conditions are `-2` and `-1`
