What is satellite DNA in a genome ? Explain their role in DNA fingerprinting .

Such DNA sequences which are repeated many a times and show a high degree of polymorphism and also for bulk of DNA in a genome are called as satellite DNA.
DNA from every tissue from an individual shows the same degree of polymorphism and is heritable. Hence, it is very useful in DNA fingerprinting.
