Compressibility factor of a gas is given...

Compressibility factor of a gas is given by the equation `Z=(PV)/(nRT)`. On this basis , mark the correct statement.

A

When `Z gt 1`, real gases get compressed easily.

B

When `Z = 1`, real gases get compressed easily.

C

When `Z gt 1`, real gases are difficult to compress

D

When `Z=1` real gases are difficult to compress

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
C

In case of real, `PV = nRT`, therefore `Z = 1 `
When `Z gt 1` , it is a positive deviation . It shows that the gas is less compressible expected from ideal behaviour.
