Why is ICl more reactive than I(2)?...

Why is ICl more reactive than `I_(2)`?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

ICl is more reactive than I because the I-Cl bond is weaker than the I-I bond as there is a difference in radius of I and Cl atoms hence electron cloud is not equally shared and thus bond becomes weak.
