Suppose an organism has 5 pg of DNA in nucleus of its egg. How much DNA would a diploid cell has in its nucleus at `G_(1)` ?

A

5 pg

B

10 pg

C

20 pg

D

2.5 pg

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

Egg is haploid and has 5 Pg (picogram) DNA. Its animal which is diploid will be having 10 Pg DNA. In S phase DNA doubles and, therefore, in `G_(2)` amount of DNA will be 20 Pg and in `G_(1)` it is 10 Pg.
