The choice of a reducing agent in a part...

The choice of a reducing agent in a particular case depends on the thermodynamic factor. How far do you agree with statement? Support your opinion with two examples.

The statement is correct. We consider both relations
`DeltaG= DeltaH-TDeltaS` or `DeltaG^(@)= - RT` In K
For a particular reducing agent to work with a metallic oxide,
(i) the value of `DeltaG` should be negative.
(ii) `DeltaS` should be positive.
(iii) a metal oxide placed lower in the Ellingham diagram cannot be reduced by the metal involved in the formation of the oxide placed higher in the diagram. Hence, both Al and Zn can reduce FeO to Fe but Fe cannot reduce `Al_(2)O_(3)` to Al and ZnO to Zn. Similarly, C can reduce ZnO to Zn but CO cannot. This statement is definitely correct.
