Helium does not contain d - orbitals in the valence shell and hence , electrons cannot be pronoted to higher energy levels like that in Xe to form bonds . Therefore , helium does not form chamical compounds .Further , ionisation enthalpy of He is sufficiently heigher than those of Xe .
