Racemic mixture is optically inactive.

Racemic mixture contains two enantiomers, i.e. d- and l- forms in equal proportions and possesses zero optical rotation as the rotation of plane polarised light due to one isomer will be cancelled by the rotation of other isomer. Thus, the mixture will be optically inactive.
