Iodoform reaction
The organic compounds having `CH_(3)-undersetunderset(O)(||)(C )-or`
`CH_(3)-undersetunderset(OH)(|)(CH)`-groups on heating with `Na_(2)CO_(3)(aq)` or
Na OH (aq) solution countaining iodine, give a yellow precipitate of iodoform. This is known as iodoform test.
