Condensation polymerization: in this type of polymerization, a large number of monomer molecules combine together usually with the loss of simple molecules like water, alcohol, ammonia, carbon dioxide, hydrogen chloride etc, to form a macromlecule in which the molecular formula of the repeating structural unit is generally not same as that of the monomer. The polymers thus formed are called condensation polymers. These are also called step-growth polymers since they are formed as result of stepwise reactions.
