What is meant by the term broad spectrum antibiotics? Explain.

Antibiotics which kill or inhibit a wide range of harmful disease causing bacteria are called broad spectrum antibiotics. These are equally effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria (both). e.g. Ampicillin and amoxycillin.
