What is the molarity of 10% (w/v) NaOH solution?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

10 % NaOH (w/v) solution means 10 g of NaOH dissolved in 100 mL of solution .
We know , that number of moles of NaOH
` = ("Weight of NAOH")/("Molar mass of NaOH") = (10 g)/(40 "g mol"^(-1))`
Thus , molarity = `("Number of moles of NaOH")/("Volume of solution (inL)")`
` =(10 g)/(40 " g mol"^(-1)) xx (1000 "mL L"^(-1))/(100 mL ) = 10/4`
`= 2.5 "mol"L^(-1)`
