A simple iron oxide was found to contain `72.17%` iron. 2 g of the oxide from another source gave `1.44 g` of iron. Show that the results illustrate law of definite proportions.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Percentage of iron in the first sample `=72.17`
Percentage of iron in the second sample `=(1.443)/(2.0)xx 100= 72.15`
The percentages of iron in both the samples are the same.
