Consider the metals: Mn, Mg, Zn, Ag, Cu....

Consider the metals: `Mn, Mg, Zn, Ag, Cu`. Based on their reactivity order, pick the correct statement

A

All five metals produce hydrogen gas on reacting with acids

B

Ag will substitute Cu from its aqueous solution

C

Mn will substitute Zn from its aqueous solution

D

Cu will substitute Mg from its aqueous solution

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
C

The order of reactivity of these metals is `Mg gt Mn gt Zn gt Cu gt Ag`. Out of these.metals, Cu and Ag are less reactive and their reaction with acid will not produce hydrogen gas.
Highly reactive metal can substitute the less reactive metal from their aqueous soltuion, so, `Mn^(2+)` will substitute `Zn^(2+)` from aqueous solution
