Assertion : Molar conductivity increases...

Assertion : Molar conductivity increases with decrease in concentration. Reason:Conductivity always decreases with decrease in concentration.

A

If both (A) and (R) are correct and (R) is the correct explanation of (A).

B

If both (A) and (R) are correct, but (R) is not the correct explanation of (A).

C

A is correct but R is wrong

D

If both (A) and (R) are incorrect.

The correct Answer is:
B

`lambda_(m)=kV` With decrease in concentration, total volume V of the solution containing one mole of electrolyte also increases and decrease in k (conductivity) on dilution of a solution is more than compensated by increase in its volume, hence molar conductivity `(lambda_(m))` increases.
