Rita goes 20km towards east from a point A to the point B. From B, she moves 30km towards west along the same road. If the distance towards east in represented by a positive integer then, how will you represent the distance travelled towards west? By which integer will you represent her final position from A?

Suppose a car starts from a place A and travels at a speed of 40 km/h towards another place B. At the same instance, another car starts from B and travels towards A at a speed of 30 km/h. If the distance between A and B is 100 km, after how much time will the cars meet?

A girl walks 4 km towards west, then she walks 3 km in a direction 30^(@) east of north and stops. Determine the girl’s displacement from her initial point of departure.

Form the pair of linear equations in the following problems and find their solutions (if they exist) by any algebraic method : Places A and B are 100 km apart on highway. One car starts from A and another form B at the same time. If the cars travel in the same direction at different speeds, they meet in 5 hours. If they travel towards each other, they meet in 1 hour. What are the speeds of the two cars ?

A bird is flying to and fro between two cars moving with constant speeds on a straight smooth road. One car is moving at 18 km/h while other is moving towards the other at 27 km/h. The bird starts moving from the first car towards the other with a speed of 36 km/h when the distance of separation between the two is 36 km. What is the displacement of the bird when the two cars meet each other?

Places A and B are 160 km apart on a highway. One car starts from A and another from B at the same time. If they travel in the same direction they meet in 8 hours. But if they travel towards each other, they meet in 2 hours. Find the speed of each car. Let P and Q be the cars (1) starting from A and B respectively.
