Assertion:- To cells of unequal emf E(1)...

Assertion:- To cells of unequal emf `E_(1)` and `E_(2)` having internal resistances `r_(1)` and `r_(2)` are connected as shown in figure. Then the potential difference across any cell cannot be zero.

Reason:- If two cells having nonzero internal resistance and unequal emf are connected across each other as shown, then the current in the circuit cannot be zero.

A

If both Assertion `&` Reason are True `&` the Reason is a correct explanation of the Assertion.

B

If both Assertion `&` Reason are True but Reason is not a correct explanation of the Assertion.

C

If Assertion is True but the Reason is False.

D

If both Assertion `&` Reason are False.

The correct Answer is:
B

Let `E_(1)ltE_(2)` and a current i flows through the cirucit. Then the potential difference across cell of emf `E_(1)` is `E_(1)+ir_(1)` which is cannot be zero for current in the cirucit to be zero, emt of both the cells should be equal But `E_(1)cancel=E_(2)`.
