Comprehension # 6
A `1 kg` block is given a velocity of `15 m//s` towards right over a very long rough plank of mass `2 kg` The correct graph showing linear momentum of `1 kg` (i.e. `p_(1)` ) and of `2 kg` (i.e. p_(2)` ) versus time is :-

A

B

C

D

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

As no external force acts on the two blocks friction acts like an internal force and thw two blocks will move with common velocity.
By applying conservatin of momentum
`(1 kg) (15 m//s) = 1v = 2v rArr v = 5 m//s`
`P_(1) = 5 N-s , P_(2) = 10N-s`
