A ray reflected successively from two plane mirrors inclined at a certain angle `(lt 90^(@))` undergoes a deviation of `300^(@)` . The number of images observable are:

A

10

B

11

C

12

D

The correct Answer is:
B

If an angle between mirrors is `theta` then the deviation from two plane mirrors will be =` 2pi -2 theta`
`300 = 2pi - 2 theta implies theta = 30^(@)`, Hence `(300)/(30)= 12`
Number of images = m-1 = 12-1 = 11

A beam of light from a source L is incident normally on a plane mirror fixed at a certain distance x from the source. The beam is reflected back as a spot on a scale placed just above the source L. When the mirror is rotated through a small angle theta , the spot of the light is found to move through a distance y on the scale. The angle theta is given by

Two plane mirrors A and B are aligned parallel to each other, as shown in the figure. A light ray is incident at an angle '30degree' at a point just inside one end of A. When a body slides down from rest along a smooth inclined plane making an angle of 45^(@) with the horizontal, it takes time T. When the same body slides down from rest along a rough inclined plane making the same angle and through the same distance, it is seen to take time pT, where p is some number greater than 1. Calculate the coefficient of friction between the body and the rough plane.
