Stone A is dropped but stone B and C are projected horizontally `(u_(C)gtu_(B))` from top of tower of height h. then find out
(i) Which stone will reach the ground earlier
(ii) Relation between vertical velocity of stones when they hit the ground.

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
(i) All stones will teach the ground at the same instant `t=sqrt((2h)/(g))`
(ii) same for all `v_(y)=sqrt(2gh)`

Assertion: When the body is dropped or thrown horizontally form the same height, it would reach the ground at the same time. Reason: Horizontal velocity has no effect on the vertical direction.

An aeroplane is flyind horizontally at a height of 2 km and with a velocity of 720 km/h. A bag containing ration is to be dropped to the Jawans on the ground then find out (i) How far from the Jawans should the bag be released so that it falls directly over them (ii) Time taken by bag to reach the ground (iii) Velocity of bag when it reach the ground. (iv) At which angle the bag will reaches the ground. (v) What path of bag will be appeared to pilot (vi) What path of bag will be appeared to Jawans. (vii) Position of aeroplane when bag reaches to the Jawans. (g=10m//s^(2))

A stone is projected from the ground in such a direction so as to hit a bird on the top of a telegraph post of height h and attains the maximum height of 2h above the ground. If at the insatant of projection, the bird were to fly away horizontally with a uniform speed, find the ratio between the horizontal velocity of bird and the horizontal component of velocity of stone, if the stone hits the bird while descending.

A hiker stands on the edge of cliff 490 m above the ground and throws a stone horizontally with an initial speed of 15 " m s "^(-1) Neglecting air resistance , find the time taken by the stone to reach the ground , and the speed with which it hits the ground . (Take g=9.8 " m s"^(2)) .
