Distinction between pairs of compounds
n-Hexylamine and aniline

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

First of all the compound is dissolved in conc. HCl and ice cold solution of `HNO_(2)` (`NaNO_(2)+` dil. HCl) is added to it. Now an alkaline solution of 2-naphthol (`beta`-naphthol) is added to the above solution. An organe or red dye indicates the presence of aniline. This test is not given by n-hexylamine.
