Why is pure acetic acid known as glacial acetic acid?

When cooled sufficiently, anhydrous acetic acid forms .ice like. crystals which melt at 289. 7K. Hence, the pure anhydrous acid is usually called glacial acetic acid (Glacial = of ice).
