Acetophenone `(C_(6)H_(5)COCH_(3))` and benzophenone `(C_(6)H_(5)COC_(6)H_(5))`

These can be distinguished by the iodoform test. `C_(6)H_(5)COCH_(3)` due to the presence of `CH_(3)CO`- grouping gives yellow ppt. of iodoform on treatment with `NaOI(NaOH+I_(2))` but benzophenone does not respond to this test.
