What is anode mud" in connection with the metallurgy of copper? What is its importance ?

During electrorefining, impurities present in copper are collected in convas bags wrapped around the anode. It is called .anode mud.. It contains precious metals like Au, Pt, etc. and are separated from this mud by a suitable procedure.
